Planhotel To give you some idea of how different Zanzibar is from a typical paradise island, its capital Stone Town is now preserved as a World Heritage Site – with ornate palaces, imposing forts and graceful dhows floating on the Indian Ocean.

Planhotel is a bit different, too. This luxury hotel group has a collection of 16 chic resorts, hotels and townhouses in the Maldives, Kenya, Zanzibar and Italy – all with their own style and all kept in pristine condition to satisfy the high expectations of well-travelled guests.

Needless to say, then, at this Zanzibar resort the HR team is looking to recruit an experienced executive housekeeper who can hit the ground running. The good news is that you’ll be well rewarded.

“Just as we invest in our properties, we continually invest in the development of our employees to ensure our guests enjoy an extraordinary experience whenever they stay at one of our resorts,” say management.

So, what are you waiting for? Apply now

Fairmont Bab Al BahrThis new uber-modern hotel is destined to put most other competitors in the shade when it opens in the tiny Arab emirate of Abu Dhabi in October.

The strikingly designed beachfront business resort will have 369 rooms and suites, a choice of restaurants and bars, plus state-of-the-art conference, leisure facilities and spa… If you’re still not impressed, take note that Michelin-starred celebrity chef Marco Pierre White has chosen the hotel to launch his first steakhouse in the region.

Working for Fairmont, of course, means that you’ll be contributing to the success of a world-famous five-star hotel brand, so as assistant bar manager, you’ll be expected to do more than just shake a good cocktail. In fact, you’ll have to get your head around marketing, stock taking and analysing and reviewing both stock and financial results.

Chances are, though, that once you’re in you won’t want to leave. “People stay where they feel valued, and we’re proud to boast one of the highest retention rates in our industry,” claim the HR department.

Sounds good - go for it … Get your application in…

Kempinski Hotel, China South Africa is stunningly beautiful – but to apply for any of these jobs you’ll need to know that first-hand. Why? Well, because there are visa restrictions, so candidates either have to be working in South Africa already or be South Africans working overseas.

Bad luck if you don’t qualify. Let’s face it, Taj Hotels & Resorts operates some of the most glamorous hotels in the world - all of which are renowned for high service standards - and the brand new Cape Town property will be no exception.

And as a career move the Taj makes sense, too. This is a company that encourages its employees to move freely between roles, hotels and disciplines in order to develop their skills as a well-rounded professional.

As management says: “The safe environment of the Taj encourages its employees to be outspoken and to grow in self-confidence. This self-development journey, which accompanies a career in the Taj, becomes a self-fulfilling prophecy for success.”

Check out the vacancies on offer … and good luck …
